Almut Reichart , Senior Scientist, German Environment Agency



Almut Reichart was born in 1977 lives with three children in Dessau, studied environmental engineering from 1996 until Jan 2004 at the Technical University in Berlin with the focus of waste water treatment and industrial environmental protection, final degree “Dipl.-Ing.” (equiv. MSc) in Environmental Engineering.

Since 2004 she works for the German Environment Agency as an senior scientist. Since 2006 she is the sector expert for the pulp and paper industry. Her main responsibilities are developing sector specific requirements in legal provisions for Germany and Europe.  She chairs the German working groups “Best Available Techniques for Pulp and Paper Industry” under the framework of IED and represents Germany in relevant European processes. In addition to that she is carrying out training of authorities and industry in India on best available techniques, on the development of legal provisions and on monitoring.


She is giving the presentation on BAT in the iron and steel sector on behalf of the sector expert Sebastian Plickert.
